Is this how Waverley Borough Council wants Cranleigh to look?

This map is taken from the Waverley Borough Council website.

Waverley Borough Council SHLAA Cranleigh

In Waverley’s “Sustainability Appraisal of the Waverley Local Plan Part 1” on Page numbered 30 it states, with regards to high development in Cranleigh (the underline of However is in the original report obviously for emphasis and yes there is a missing ‘are’ in the first sentence.):

However, it is recognised that there no
major socio-economic arguments in favour
of this option. Cranleigh has more of a
‘village feel’ than is the case for the other
main settlements, and it is the case that
housing need is not focused in this part of
the Borough. Also, recent speculative (i.e.
non-plan led) applications for housing
schemes have served to highlight concerns
over infrastructure.

So it is recognised that Cranleigh will not benefit from this dump of housing and that housing need is not focused here, however Waverley seem hell bent on doing it anyway! ASK THEM WHY?
